1. ArtWauk
Waukegan’s annual ArtWauk event is Saturday, Feb. 18, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Enjoy an evening of arts, music and more on Genesee Street. This month’s event will include free shuttle service between the theater district and the gallery district on Genesee Street downtown.
2. Wine walk
Wine About Winter will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m .in downtown Libertyville. Purchase a wine glass at a distribution site, then spend the afternoon browsing the shops of downtown and enjoying art while sampling wines offered by participating merchants.
3. Tuskegee Airmen
The Great Lakes Naval Museum is hosting a free public lecture on the 99th Pursuit Squadron and the creation of the Tuskegee Airmen on Saturday.Feb. 18, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The speaker will be Mark Hanson, curator at the Chanute Air Museum in Rantoul. Hanson will take you on the incredible journey of the 99th Pursuit Squadron.
4. Stomp Fest
The annual Lake County Greek Stomp Fest (Fraternity and Sorority Greek Step Show) will take place Saturday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. at College of Lake County, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. Seven of the Nine Fraternity and Sororities, that make up the NPHC (National Pan Hellenic Council), will be displaying the unique art of stepping by using their bodies, canes and other objects, as instruments to produce complex rhythms and sounds. Through a mixture of chants, footsteps, and hand claps these groups will entertain the crowd of all ages. Tickets are $10 and $5 for children ages 9 and under. Details, (224) 627-5832.
5. Concert
Join the Classical Connoisseur on an ear-opening exploration of the magic of classical music Sunday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. at Round Lake Area Library, 906 Hart Road, Round Lake. Awaken your sound-palette to colors, textures, motion, imagery and the shapes of time. Maestra Kim Diehnelt “conducts” listeners and a trio of live musicians on oboe, flute and clarinet.
