‘Russian virtuoso’ to perform at Ravinia

HIGHLAND PARK — Pianist Daria Rabotkina will perform Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. at Ravinia’s Bennett Gordon Hall, Lake Cook and Green Bay roads.
Winner of the 2007 Concert Artists Guild Competition, Rabotkina has been hailed as “a Russian virtuoso” by the Miami Herald, Rabotkina has already toured North America displaying her “breakneck piano virtuosity” (San Francisco Chronicle) with such ensembles as the Kirov Orchestra under Valery Gergiev. Her “clearly prodigious musical gifts” (The Washington Post) have also been on display in recitals at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
Her recently released second solo CD, featuring Beethoven’s “Diabelli” Variations, follows up on her critically acclaimed debut disc spotlighting Tchaikovsky’s Grand Sonata and Prokofiev’s Ten Pieces from Romeo and Juliet.
