1. Harvest Festival
Harvest Festival will be held Oct. 20 from 1 to 10 p.m. and the Haunted Trail of Terror from dusk to 10 p.m. at Northern Illinois Conservation Club in Antioch, on Route 83 one-half mile south of Route 173. Activities will include craft table, face painting, hay rides, cake walk, story telling, bucket raffles and more. Also, the Haunted Trail of Terror will be open from dusk to 10 p.m. Details, (847) 395-6422 or www.mynicc.org.
2. Flower show
The Lions Club of Fox Lake will hold its annual flower show Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Grant High School, 285 E. Grand Ave., Fox Lake. Tickets are $10 and include an arrangement of flowers. Details, (847) 587-2642.
3. CROCtoberfest
The Wildlife Discovery Center at Elawa Farm in Lake Forest will hold CROCtoberfest Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1401 Middlefork Drive. Members from the Chicago Herpetological Society and Windy City Reptiles will be showing a variety of live alligators, crocodiles, caimans, along with many other reptiles. There will be kid-friendly arts and crafts activities, face painting, a storyteller, craft vendors, and a raffle table. Cost is $5. Details, www.wildlifediscoverycenter.org.
4. Film fest
International Children’s Film Festival will be held Oct. 20 at 10:30 a.m. and Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. at Round Lake Beach Civic & Cultural Center, 2007 Civic Center Drive. There will be 44 short films from 19 countries. Ballots will be at all screenings and winners will be announced after the festival. Families can enjoy an assortment of pre- and post-festival activities, including African drumming, Hispanic dancing, face painting and balloons. For ages 2 to 10. Tickets are $6 and $2 for children. 5. Art exhibit
Art exhibit by Rebecca Zastany titled “Explicit Directions to the Moon” will open Oct. 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Dandelion Gallery, 109 S. Genesee St., Waukegan. Her work includes mix media paintings, drawings and tapestries. The show will continue until Nov. 9. Gallery hours are Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Details, (847) 625-0381.
