The holidays are a time to enjoy family and friends and to give thanks for all that we have, as well as give gifts to our loved ones. For very special handmade gifts, check out the area’s holiday bazaars, boutiques and craft fairs listed below.

The 31st annual Holiday Craft Boutique is held Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 30 Riverwoods Road, Lincolnshire. The event features gifts for the holidays and all occasions from over 50 vendors. A donation of a non-perishable food item to be donated to local food pantries is requested. The annual Bazaar and Gift Show, hosted by the Ladies Aid of St. Matthew Lutheran Church will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3 and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at 24500 N. Old McHenry Road, Hawthorn Woods. Featured items are Christmas ornaments, wreaths and a bake sale. Coffee and donuts will be available; lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Details, call (847) 438-7709.

The Mistletoe Market, hosted by Immaculate Conception Parish, will be held 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at 770 Deerfield Ave., Highland Park. Handmade gifts, crafts, books, holiday and home decor, jewelry and accessories. A cookie walk and luncheon will also be offered. Details, call Donna Lutter (847) 962-7630.

The 3rd annual Holiday Gift Boutique hosted by the Chaverot Group Hadassah North Shore will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Grand Dominion Lakeside Lodge, 3555 Grand Dominion Circle in Mundelein. JCYS Lutz Family Center Holiday Bazaar will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at 800 Clavey Road, Highland Park. From 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be complimentary childcare for shoppers. Details, call (847) 433-6001, ext. 103.

The Holiday Tea and Boutique, hosted by Lake County Services of the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, will be Nov. 8 at the Wynstone Golf Club, 1 S. Wynstone, North Barrington. High Tea will be served at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the Holiday Boutique will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fourteen vendors will be participating and holiday workshops will be presented by Joseph’s Florist of Libertyville and Couture 360, Lake Zurich. 15th annual Holiday Boutique to benefit The Lake County Haven will be held noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 at the residence of Alice and Nick Lucca, 14115 Mettawa Woods Drive, Mettawa. This year’s event features new vendors including local artisans, jewelry and accessories, handcrafted tablewares, handbags, beauty/spa products, gourmet foods, stationery, candles, clothing and holiday items. The Holiday Boutique hosted by Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Women’s Board will have a preview party 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 14. Tickets are $50 in advance; $60 at door. The regular schedule is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 15-16; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Lake Forest Recreation Center at 400 Hastings Road, Lake Forest. Admission to the boutique is $10 per person, which includes unlimited readmission during the three-day show and sale. A Holiday Marketplace at the First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 17 at 824 Waukegan Road, Deerfield. Jewelry, scarves, holiday decorations, gifts, homemade baked goods and much more. Many goods made in America. Proceeds benefit mission partners including PADS, I Have a Dream, Highwood programs, Atebubu in Ghana, West Africa and more. Details, call (847) 945-0560.

Christmas Cookie, Candy, & Craft Walk 2012 hosted by Community Protestant Church, UCC in Mundelein will be 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 7 and on 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at Fellowship Hall, 418 N. Prairie Ave., Mundelein. It features homemade cookies, candy and crafts, plus the Jingle Bell Room, full of gently used jewelry, holiday decor items and vintage holiday decorations.
