For the four male singers in the group Under the Streetlamp, the sum is greater than the individual parts.
“What we can achieve together is more than any one of us can achieve alone,” said Christopher Kale Jones, a member of Under the Streetlamp. “All four of us had solo careers. We could do other things. We keep doing this because we know it’s more than we can create alone.”
The quartet will perform at the Genesee Theatre on Dec. 30.
Under the Streetlamp features Jones, Shonn Wiley, Michael Ingersoll and Michael Cunio. Each has appeared at one time or another in the Chicago or national company tours of “Jersey Boys,” the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
Backed by a seven-piece band, the group sings a variety of oldie hits, and delves into the Four Seasons song catalog. “We know we are here because of ‘Jersey Boys,’ ” Jones said. “We do a medley of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in the show. But that’s about five percent of the show.”
The group began in 2010 doing mostly charity benefits. “We caught the eye of the Public Broadcasting Service,” Jones said. “Once we were linked with PBS we had a national platform. [So] this last year we had the national coverage.”
