A recently orphaned girl, brought to live with her uncle and sickly cousin, discovers a mysterious, neglected place in “The Secret Garden” at Deerfield Family Theater.
“It’s such a great story and the music is some of the most beautiful I’ve ever heard for the theater,” said Stephen M. Genovese, director of the Lucy Simon (music) and Marsha Norman (book and lyrics) musical.
Genovese believes it’s a perfect show for families because, “It really shows what hope and love and redemption and the search for those things does to strengthen the bonds of family.”
Genovese thinks the vocal talent of his cast will make this production stand out. “I was so excited with the talent we got this year,” he said. The director also praised the set and costume design. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays, Nov. 8-17, at Caruso Middle School, 1800 Montgomery Road, Deerfield. Tickets are $18.
