1. Holiday events
Dickens of a Holiday will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 14 in downtown Libertyville. Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus outside in a snow-covered sleigh in Cook Park from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m.
Kids can shop for their family at the Holiday Shoppe with the help of Santa’s elves at Petranek’s Pharmacy, across from Cook Park. Prices for gifts go up to $5.
In addition, enjoy a Victorian Tea at 11 a.m. Dec. 14 at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, 125 W. Church St., complete with finger sandwiches and bite-sized desserts. Cost for the tea is $35. Reservations required. Details, (847) 680-0336 or www.mainstreetlibertyville.org.
2. Santa breakfast
Breakfast with Santa will be held at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and noon Dec. 14, 21 and 22 and at 10:30 a.m. and noon Dec. 15 at Lambs Farm, I-94 and Route 176, Green Oaks. Enjoy a brunch, visit with Santa and participate in several crafts and activities. Cost is $15.95, and $7.95 for children 23 months and younger with activities. For reservations, call (847) 362-5050.
3. Claus run
Santa and Mrs. Claus will ride through Park City handing out treats to all the Park City children beginning at 8 a.m. Dec. 15. The couple will be escorted by the Police Department. So, listen for the sirens as they approach your home. Details, (847) 623-5030.
Celebrate the holiday season as Marion Consort performs “Sing We All Noel” at 5 p.m. Dec. 15 at Byron Colby Barn, 1561 Jones Point Road, Grayslake. Admission is $18, at the door only (cash or check only), and children under 16 are admitted free. Details, (847) 543-1202.
The Lake County Folk Club will present Tricia Alaxander in concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at The In-Laws Restaurant, 720 Milwaukee Ave., Gurnee. Admission is $12, $10 for seniors and members and $5 for teens.
