A benefit for the Japan Disaster Relief Fun titled Hope for Japan will held May 24 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. There will be Japanese cuisine, cocktails, performance by Verismo Opera Club, auctions and more. Minimum donation is $10 at the door. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross for the victims of the tsunami.

An exhibit called “Science Storm” features a tornado, lighting, fire, tsunamis and more. “Body Worlds and The Cycle of Life” on display through Sept. 5. Permanent exhibit “Nature’s Lunchbox” shines the spotlight on healthy eating and encourages visitors to think about how their food choices impact their health and the environment. Exhibit titled “A Watercolor Journal: The Art of Philip Enquist” will be on display through June 19. The self-curated exhibit titled Nature’s Architects will be on display through Aug. 7. Explore bee hives, watch parakeets turn a telephone pole into an apartment complex, and find out how many termites it takes to build a skyscraper. Tweet Home Chicago, a birdhouse design competition which aims to raise awareness about the importance of birds and bird habitat in Chicago, will be held through Aug. 7. Redmoon Youth Spectacle May 20 at 6, 7 or 8 p.m. Tickets are $3-10. World Turtle Day May 22 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

THE SHEDD AQUARIUM: 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive. (312) 559-0200, www.sheddaquarium.org. Dolphins soar, belugas dance, and penguins parade in Fantasea, the ongoing aquatic show. The exhibit titled Jellies will be on display through May 28, 2012. Guests “dive” into the deep and complicated world of sea jellies, learning how their simple bodies have allowed them to survive for millions of years.
