Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Daniel Byrd, the son of Irene and Daniel Byrd of Gurnee, has returned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., after being deployed to Iraq, serving in support of Operation New Dawn. Byrd, an information technology specialist attached to the 801st Combat Support Hospital, Fort Sheridan, has served 15 years in the military. He is a 1995 graduate of Warren Township High School in Gurnee.
