Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington

Choir members: Several area students are members of Illinois Wesleyan’s Collegiate Choir making ten appearances on its 2012 tour from March 3-20. The choir’s itinerary will include performances in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio and Illinois. Area members include: Brady Olson of Hawthorn Woods, Hayley Koch of Lake Forest and Bradley Gresik of Vernon Hills. The Illinois Wesleyan University Collegiate Choir has established a long history of excellence through its on-campus performances, annual tours and recordings. Students in the choir are selected by audition and maintain a rigorous rehearsal schedule in preparation for their concert tour and other engagements throughout the year.

University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Kenosha

Science Night: Science Night will be held Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. with an exploration of the science and math behind the “chaos theory” at Greenquist Hall, 900 Wood Road. This free program titled “Ins and Outs of Chaos Theory” will be presented by UW-Parkside Mathematics Professor Dr. Clark Alexander. Dr. Alexander’s areas of research are related to mathematical physics and joined UW-Parkside for fall semester 2010. and is, in his words, “amongst the more chaotic mathematical faculty.” High school and middle school students and faculty with an interest in math and science are encouraged to attend.
