Concert: Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 285 Washington St., will present “Jussi Bjorling, His Artistry & His Life” Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. Sometimes called the greatest tenor of the 20th century, Jussi Bjorling (1911-1960) started singing at an early age, traveling with his father and brothers as the Bjorling Quartet; recordings were made in 1920. He studied at the Stockholm Conservatory in Sweden and made his official debut at the Royal Opera in 1930. After touring in Europe, he sang in Chicago and had his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1938. He sang in opera and recitals until shortly before his death in 1960. Ardythe Bjorling Lange will present the program prepared by Gwendolyn Manter, series administrator. Refreshments will be served. Free will donations will be appreciated. Presentations: Prince of Peace Parish Mission will present guest speaker Sal Solo, former British rock star, March 4-6 at 7 p.m. each day at 135 S. Milwaukee Ave. His unique multimedia presentations use a high degree of interaction, music and video clips that speak in a way words alone cannot. World Day of Prayer: Church Women United will sponsor a World Day of Prayer service March 2 at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Lutheran Church, 658 Grand Ave. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. The theme, “Let Justice Prevail!” has been written by the women of Malaysia showing it takes courage, compassion and active engagement for justice to prevail for all.
