Concert: World-renowned trumpeter and Grammy nominee Bobby Shew will solo with the CLC jazz ensembles Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. at 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. He has performed in the bands of Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman and Buddy Rich and has played in dozens of TV and movie soundtracks. Tickets are $-5. Details, (847) 543-2300.

Fund-raiser: An entertaining fund-raiser called “Poetry in Motion” will be held Feb. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. It is sponsored by CLC and the CLC Black Student Union. Admission and food are free, but donations toward the Holly S. Graham Memorial Scholarship Fund will be accepted. Graham was a former CLC student who died in 2007, and the BSU’s $500 CLC Foundation Scholarship honors her memory. Hosted by Ahav the Poet, the event will feature the performance poetry of Joel Chmara (CLC English professor), Decorris Rice (CLC student) and Chicago area poets, Phenom, Sole Tempest, 3BM – Moe & O, Awthentik, Christopher Sims and James English.
