Awareness Week: To draw attention to the high school drop-out problem and literacy issues, the College of Lake County’s Adult Education department is participating in National Adult Education and Family Literacy Awareness week, Sept. 10-16, by promoting the achievements of its students and seeking new literacy volunteers. CLC’s Adult Basic Education, GED and ESL division is actively pursuing an adult student population that is considered the hardest to reach but the most in need. Sponsored by the National Coalition for Literacy, the second week in September is set aside as National Adult Education and Family Literacy Awareness Week to increase awareness of adult education and family literacy efforts throughout the U.S. More information on nationwide literacy efforts is at www.ncladvocacy.org. To learn more about how you can earn a GED certificate or take Adult Basic Education, GED or ESL courses at no cost, call (847) 543-2021 or (847) 543-2866.
