Lindenhurst

Award: St. Mark Lutheran Church was presented with the Community Involvement and Volunteer award by the Lindenhurst Park District. The annual award is a recommendation by the Park District Board and staff to the Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association. The recipient demonstrates a high degree of community involvement and volunteer activities that benefit the community at large. For more information, call (847) 356-6011.

Zion

Series: Memorial United Methodist Church, 2935 Sheridan Road, will begin a unique two-part, seven-week event called “What’s the Least I Can believe and Still Be a Christian?” Feb. 17. The event will be based on an engaging new book about mainline and moderate Christianity. Participants will study things Christians don’t need to believe, as well as things Christians do need to believe. The entire community is invited to attend. The series will be presented through Palm Sunday, March 24, by Pastor Kwadwo Ntim during the 10 a.m. Sunday morning worship service, and will be continued with an evening soup supper and discussion format at 5 p.m. For more information and to register for the evening portions of the event, call (847) 872-5757.
