Antioch

Performance: “The Night of January 16th” by Ayn Rand will be performed at 7 p.m. Nov. 14-16 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at Antioch Community High School, 1133 Main St. Tickets are $7 and $5 for students and seniors. Details, (847) 395-1421.

Gages Lake

Math night: Woodland Elementary West School’s math specialists will host Family Math Night at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the school, 17371 W. Gages Lake Road. Families of first, second and third grade students will participate in a variety of math games that cover skills ranging from addition, subtraction, multiplication, problem solving, geometry, and even logic. Many of the games can be played with a deck of cards or a set of dice. Details, (847) 596-5604.

Grayslake

Performance: ENCORE!, the theatre company of Grayslake Central High School, will perform “Sideways Stories From Wayside School” at 7 p.m. Nov. 21-23 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 24 at 400 N. Lake St. The show is based on Louis Sachar’s popular children’s books from the ’80s and ’90s and is fun for the entire family. Details, (847) 986-3323 or d127ticketleap.com.

Grayslake/Antioch

Selection and concert: The following students of the Grayslake Central High School music department were selected to represent the school at the Illinois Music Educators Association District 7 Senior High School Festivals held in November: Maria Requena and Eli Karras. Eli was also selected to the ILMEA Jazz Band 4 for the Senior Jazz Festival. The senior concert festival was held recently at Crystal Lake Central High School, and the jazz festival will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 16 at Lakes High School, 1600 Eagle Way, Antioch. Admission is $3. Lake Forest

Performance: Lake Forest High School freshman and sophomore play “Pride and Prejudice” will be performed at 7 p.m. Nov. 14-16 at David Miller Theatre, East Campus, 1285 N. McKinley Road. Tickets available at app.arts-people.com/index.php?actions=4&p=3.

Libertyville

Festival: The Highland Middle School Symphonic Band will participate in the annual Festival of Bands at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at Libertyville High School, 708 W. Park Ave. Band members will perform along with those from Oak Grove Middle School, Rondout, and Libertyville High bands. Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for adults. Details, (847) 362-9695.

Selection: The following Highland Middle School orchestra students were selected to participate in the Illinois Music Educator’s Association District 7 Honor Orchestra concert held recently: Alex Hibbard-Brown, Katie Lund, Colin Miller, Lauren Randolph and Kelly Xu.

Mundelein

Concert: Mundelein High School’s instrumental music department will present its Fall Band Concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at 1350 W. Hawley St. It will feature the Honors Wind Ensemble, Honors Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band and the Concert Band. Admission is free. Details, (847) 949-2200, ext. 1552.

Grant: The Mundelein High School Theatre Department received a $500 grant from Kirk Players Community Theatre as part of the organization’s giving back to the community program. According to MHS Theatre Director Jonathan Meier, the grant money will be used toward the purchase of stage lighting for the auditorium.

Round Lake Beach

Fundraiser: Village School will hold McTeacher’s Night Fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Round Lake Beach McDonald’s, 774 E. Rollins Road. There will be a special appearance from Ronald McDonald at 5 p.m. Fifteen percent of monies will be donated back to Village School PTO. Details, (630) 699-6099.
