Obama’s savings

Obama’s savings must be up to a billion dollars now since he’s been campaigning and vacationing with the taxpayers’ money. This should be stopped immediately.

NSSD diversity

The North Shore Sanitary District has 98 employees and only four are African American and eight Latinos. Does that balance out with the taxpayers and homeowners that are served by the North Shore Sanitary District? They are getting awards, but they are not showing diversity in their hiring practice. Also, they should be hiring contractors in Illinois. We need a change. Those people have been there too long.

Enemy dead

The problem with the incident of Marines urinating on dead Taliban fighters, other than it lacks class, is that it violates orders. Standing orders in the Code of the U.S. Fighting Force ( e.g. rank, service, date of birth) and Geneva Convention (Article 15) draw attention to the disrespectful treatment (despoiling) of the enemy dead. The other issue is urination (an understandable insult to an enemy) which would not only insult, but anger many of the local neutral tribesmen. In that part of the world, the extended family-tribe is everything and though you can kill someone in a battle, you pay serious penalties if you insult the family! We don’t need any more enemies in Afghanistan/Pakistan since, at the present time, we have enough.

Lenient charge

Regarding the article “One injured when SUV plowed into hot dog stand.” Since when is leaving minor children unattended in a car only a misdemeanor? They charged this woman with a misdemeanor count for child neglect. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is getting very lenient. They should have thrown the book at her. Those kids could have been killed.

A man and his mistress

I find it interesting with the Republican debates and how they stand up on the stage and state that marriage should be between a man a woman. As far as Newt Gingrich is concerned, it’s one man, one woman and one mistress.

Hawaiian holiday

I am surprised that no one, including the media, has mentioned the $4 million Christmas Hawaiian holiday made by the Obamas. Michelle said that there’s no way that she’s going to disappoint her daughters by calling off this annual holiday. She has a personal staff that is larger than any other first lady and they have a separate plane for the dog. They are making a mockery of us the taxpayers.

WKRS employees

Who are the owners of WKRS? I called to try to find out and I was told the owners made this decision regarding WKRS to go Spanish. I am devastated and stunned because I considered WKRS to be a big part of my life and the employees are what made it just so. If they were all open and honest, we would have had this news awhile ago. It’s beyond belief and I feel very sorry for the employees at WKRS. The WKRS radio station kept us posted on a daily basis. I just want to extend to the employees, that are not going to be at WKRS, my sympathy because they’re what made this station what it is.

Record of expungement

In response to the person who wrote about the expungement box. I have also experienced that annoying question on applications and I believe it should be removed. People who have a felony for five to 10 years or more shouldn’t be subject to the agony when filling out an application for a job. Unemployment is already high. It has been two years and I have not received any letters about expungement for my record. I have been dealing with this since 2001. I have good skills and a degree, but still find it hard to get a job without checking that box. Please remove the box.

Roadway waste

Due to the recession, outrageous fuel costs and the Illinois tollway doubling toll rates, the general citizens are not driving or using roadways as we did in the past. Why is the Lake County Board authorizing millions of taxpayer dollars on useless road improvements? Millions of taxpayers dollars could be put to better use elsewhere. More taxpayer waste thanks to the Lake County Board.

Church and politics

Can anyone explain to me how Valerie Jarrett can politically bash Republicans while speaking to a congregation of people inside a church and that church still gets to keep its tax-free status? There are federal laws pertaining to mixing politics and religion. But I guess it doesn’t apply to Democrats.
