Republican reality
The Republican Party is the best reality show on television. I can hardly wait for the convention!
Amen
We all need to say a prayer for Sen. Mark Kirk.
Mayoral bookworm
If Gurnee’s mayor spends her time curled up with a book in front of the library fireplace, no wonder the village has problems.
WKRS sellout
Why would anybody be surprised that WKRS sold us out when our government sells us out. They don’t care about Americans anymore. If you’re legal, they don’t care. So why should the radio station or anybody else?
Save a trip
Don’t go down to Waukegan City Hall and expect to get your stickers or dog tags. They want your money, but they don’t have the product in yet, and they will not be in until Feb. 15.
Press 1220
Now in Lake County you don’t have to press 2 for Spanish. You have to press 1220.
Slap on the wrist
In regard to the Jan. 24 article “Richmond gets probation and fine in weapons case.” Here we go again coddling somebody that supposedly has talent and you’re going to let him walk with a little slap on the wrist even though he laughed in the face of the law this whole time. He messed up on his probation, his in-house arrest, his drug test, and yet Judge Phillips decides he should walk amongst everybody else and not do any time for this. What a joke.
WKRS whiners
All you people whining about WKRS going to a Spanish sports talk format. If you listened and supported the station, maybe it would have changed. Move on, folks.
Fantastic job
I just want to say thank you to all the snowplow drivers in Round Lake Beach for doing a fantastic job of getting rid of the snow. They do a great job every year.
Crazy claims
I realize that “Talk of the County” is not actual news or reporting, but I’m appalled that any news organization would print commentary that’s incendiary, ridiculous and factually incorrect. This section would be appropriate if it really were just commentary, but when people make crazy claims, perhaps they shouldn’t be printed, and more oversight is necessary. For example, there were two different complaints about the Obamas’ vacation expenses in the Jan. 25 edition. A quick online check reveals that the family dog did not have “his own plane,” as one contributor suggested, and that President Obama has vacationed less and spent less public money on travel than his predecessor, President Bush. One crazy assertion on this issue in a day would be unfortunate, given the facts, but harping on the issue twice in a day is just plain absurd, and presenting it as if it is news is totally irresponsible. Sharing commentary is fine, but giving a microphone to partisan ranters is beneath any news organization. Please, do better.
Business model
Last week, Mitt Romney said that Republicans shouldn’t pick a nominee who has never ran a state or a business. I disagree with that. After watching how businessmen sent all the good-paying jobs out of America just to fill their pockets, destroy the middle class, watch them take bailout money and give themselves millions and millions of dollars in bonuses, I would never vote for a businessman.
Negative comments
I am shocked and horrified from all the negative comments I keep reading about the anger people have because of the radio station turning to Spanish. Would there be this much anger if it turned into a Polish station? Reading these comments make me feel hated and unwanted just because I am Hispanic!
No sports fan
WKRS wants to go to Spanish and sports? Good. Make it sports and Spanish because I’m tired of sports. It’s everywhere and we don’t need it. I don’t understand why they have to make it completely Spanish when they could make it partly English at least.
Someone else’s money
I just don’t understand Republicans. I would rather have as president someone who knows how to make money and how to handle it than someone who only knows how to spend someone else’s money.
Drive-thru
To the customers who are in your cars at the drive up windows at the banks or credit unions: Please pull up out of line to count your money and take care of your finances. Those of us behind you have places we have to go. We want to get up to the window.
