BULL VALLEY — Lake County authorities have joined the investigation into the discovery of two human skulls.
Authorities said the skulls appear to have been dumped there, and the community need not be worried about any imminent danger.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Bannockburn police have joined Crystal Lake police, McHenry police, Illinois and Wisconsin Search and Rescue Dogs, and the McHenry County Emergency Management Agency on the case.
The skulls don’t have any flesh or hair attached, and they were discovered Wednesday sitting on top of the thin layer of snow covering the ground in the 1500 block of Cherry Valley Road in Bull Valley, which is near Woodstock.
“They’re clean to the point they almost look bleached,” McHenry County Coroner Marlene Lantz said. “It looked like they had been moved from somewhere else.”
Police said they don’t believe the skulls have an relation to any open missing persons investigations.
