HIGHLAND PARK — Police are asking for help in solving a horrific home invasion in the city Dec. 30 where attackers fired a weapon and caused injuries to the residents when they tied them up.

Highland Park police said the home invasion took place on Winona Road just before 10 p.m. when two black men forcibly entered the home, discharging a weapon while entering.

They then forcibly restrained the residents, causing minor injuries. No one was injured by the weapon being fired.

The offenders took jewelry and other valuables before fleeing the scene. The homeowner’s son was able to loosen his bonds and escape to call police.

Police searched the area, at one point using a K-9 unit, but did not find the suspects.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or vehicles in the area that night to call Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222. Your information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
