Objection dismissed: The Illinois State Board of Elections has unanimously dismissed David McSweeney’s objection to the nominating petitions of Kent Gaffney of Lake Barrington, one of three Republican candidates for state representative in the 52nd House District. McSweeney, of Barrington Hills, had objected to the number of signatures on Gaffney’s petitions of candidacy.

Open house: Lennie Jarratt of Round Lake Beach, Republican candidate in the 31st Senate District, will hold a campaign headquarters open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at 372 North Ave., corner of Route 83 and North Avenue, Antioch. There will be pizza and refreshments.

Carey fund-raiser: Democrat Pat Carey, running for re-election to the County Board in District 6 in central Lake County, is hosting a fund-raiser at The Vine of Grays-lake on Monday, Feb. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the door. Yancey fund-raiser: Friends of Artis Yancey will hold a fund-raiser Feb. 15 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Gojo’s Cafe, Belvidere and Green Bay roads, Waukegan. Hors d’oeuvres and cash bar will be featured to support the Democratic candidate for coroner. Tickets range in price from $25 to $500. For information, call (847) 244-5746.
