Middle class pays

Regarding the comment that Mitt Romney made about not worrying about the very poor because they’ve got a safety net is the absolute truth. They get everything for free. It’s the middle class that gets nothing for free and has to pay for everything. Our health-care bills are horrendous if we have insurance. The deductibles are high as we try to keep our premiums at reasonable levels. I know exactly what he meant and for people to interpret him as being callous toward the very poor is absolutely false.

Limited audience

Many people are upset about WKRS radio turning to all Spanish. I also listened to WKRS for many years, but I can see why it went to Spanish because of the revenue and support. It seemed like the same people called in every day and it was like a little club. You never heard any new people call in, and I think the audience was very, very limited as people dropped from listening through the years for whatever reason. It wasn’t profitable for them. I will miss WKRS radio, but that’s the way it goes.

Sign language

A certain politician has been going around and telling the voters that they can only have one sign in their yard. Then she removes her opponents’ sign. So if the public should see anyone removing any signs, would they please report it to the local authorities, because this is a very, very important election for us all this coming year.

Giving orders

In response to the “The right buttons” comment in the Jan. 30 TOTC. I would like to know when did we elect a man to the office of president and then refer to his term in office as “during his reign”? I didn’t know we had a king in office now in the USA. Also, Obama did not kill any terrorists while in office, much less has had almost every terrorist killed. The military did, or more importantly, the Navy SEALs did. He OK’d the orders, like every other president before him. As for him being the most “successful president,” the book is still out on that one. Just ask all the people out of work and those who have lost and are losing their homes.

Jobs bills

People need to get their facts straight. The Republicans have proposed over 30 jobs bills, but Harry Reid in the Senate will not allow them for a vote.

Union protection

In response to “Pondering.” If this individual would go back and learn a little bit about history, particularly in the 1890s, and then see why we have unions and just look at the history of the 1920s and the 1950s, they will understand why right-to-work laws are a bad idea. People have paid with their lives, money and blood to ensure that workers were on equal footing with employers when it came to safety, and an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s work. To allow people to come into unions now without paying is nonsense. That’s only for their protection. What’s going to happen in Indiana with the right-to-work is that you will see salaries decrease with more people coming in, and you’ll see the state go down the tubes. When people understand that unions are the only protection that they have against organized employers, they will learn. But it will probably be too late.

Clowning moment

Why would anyone care who Donald Trump is endorsing for president? He is just another one of the clowns in the circus that is this year’s presidential campaign.

Catholic faith

Now Obama passed a law that will make all the Catholics pass out contraceptives, administer drugs that induce abortions and many other things that are against the Catholic religion. They have always been exempt from that. I hope all you Catholics wake up now and all the people that voted for him. People have to realize that Obama does not care about our religion, our country or our Constitution. Let’s get rid of him once and for all. Any one of the Republicans running for president is better than the one we have.
