Pit bull bans
I don’t know what Waukegan officials are waiting for. Pit bulls and pit bull look-a-likes have been banned in four major cities — Toronto, Cincinnati, Miami and Denver. I guess our villages and cities are waiting for more people and animals to get attacked. I think we should take the clue from those major cities which ban pit bull ownership.
Komen funding
In regard to the Susan Komen Fund and Planned Parenthood, a TOTC writer asked: ”What does birth control have to do with breast cancer?” The question has nothing to do with the situation. Planned Parenthood does not only dispense contraception, it provides medical services for women including breast exams and mammograms. The funding from Komen is earmarked for these exams, not birth control. Before pulling support be sure you know the story and are not just making (incorrect) assumptions.
Entire breed
The News-Sun has a lot of nerve with that headline Feb. 8, “Pit-iful.” You just branded an entire breed of dogs as dangerous and man-eating. Shame on you. There are plenty of pit bulls in Lake County that are kind and loving. Next time, get your facts straight!
Need glasses?
There seems to be a disconnect with Wadsworth and some of the residents complaining about the road improvement. As I was driving through, all I saw was a few abandoned buildings, a bar, some homes and a church. Maybe you should first get a Lenscrafters in town so you can see what you are complaining about. I have seen better roads in a Third World country. I am sure there are other villages in Lake County that would appreciate a project like that.
Now we know
Jesus being a Republican was a joke, folks. Had to be. Jesus was a socialist, a community organizer and a do-gooder. Know any Republicans like that?
Santorum surge
Rick Santorum is going all the way. If you don’t believe me just Google his name.
Cheap, cheap
I hope people aren’t going to buy into this stuff about lower electricity rates because it’s never going to get any cheaper. They’re trying to scam us by disguising the price of their electricity and that the cost will be lower in a year. Guess what happens after a year? It triples. Please don’t be dumb enough to buy into this dog and pony show.
Unwanted pets
Having compassion is one thing, but taking care of unwanted people’s pets that they let go is another. Our city sticker money is supposed to be for services to the city such as plowing streets and garbage removal. It’s not to take care of other people’s unwanted pets.
Prove who you are
Regarding the TOTC item “A poll tax.” This person states that if voters are forced to pay for ID cards and they’re paying for a poll tax, it is clearly illegal. In this day and age, everybody has to have some form of a picture ID that is a legal form. If you don’t have that then you just don’t vote. You need a state ID card or a driver’s license to do 99 percent of things in your daily life. When you vote, then prove who you are just like you do anywhere else. Plain and simple.
Congressional stock tips
Congress is going to vote on no inside trading. They’re using this inside trading information to buy their own stock from stock markets. Isn’t that what Martha Stewart went to federal prison for? Congress should be forced into reform.
Komen money
Last year, Planned Parenthood performed nearly 330,000 abortions and 46 percent of their $1 billion a year revenue comes from taxpayer dollars. Why do they want any money from the Susan G. Komen group which people donate to in order to fight breast cancer? I don’t like this.
Bank on it
A group of banks has agreed to pay $26 billion to help current and former mortgage holders with their debt. Lisa Madigan, Illinois attorney general, attended the signing of the agreement. She said that Illinois’ portion of the payout would be approximately $1 billion. She also reportedly asked that in order to distribute the money more quickly that the check be made out to her daddy, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.
