Dog attacked

Diane Hewitt was on the front page of the newspaper because her dog got attacked. I’m sorry about her dog, but that’s not front-page news. We need to know what’s happening in Lake County, not about Diane Hewitt and her dog. She needs to be campaigning. We need to know what she going to do for the people as a County Board representative. We don’t need to know about her dog.

Oscar performance

Last week marked the 101st anniversary of the birth of President Reagan. It’s a shame he never got an Oscar for his greatest role, president of the United States.

Backyard grave

My dog got killed in the morning on Feb. 8 on Route 173 between Green Bay and Delany roads. It got ran over twice. The first time he could have survived, but the second time he was crushed. My wife was at the end of the driveway screaming for him and the lady in the second car just drove right over him. I don’t know what the first person saw but you could see the dog in our driveway at least 50-75 yards away. I don’t know if these people weren’t paying attention or what. But I would like them to know, and they know who they are, the hurt that they have caused. Stop by our house and look at the grave in the backyard and just answer: Why?

Don’t blame Him

I’ve never seen this country in such bad shape. We’re going bankrupt, businesses are closing down and this whole society is a mess. Blame Congress, but don’t blame God. The more you push God away, the more He’s going to take His protective hands off this country. This country is going down if it doesn’t change.

Responsible pet owners

I feel sorry for Diane Hewitt and her little dog. I went through a similar situation with my dog. He was attacked by my neighbor’s Doberman who was also running loose. He suffered many injuries, including over 100 bite marks, surgery that lasted over six hours and he lived. When I called the Wadsworth Village Hall about this, they told me to call the animal warden and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Wadsworth would do nothing to help me. Hopefully, someday, somebody in the county will be able to get an ordinance passed making homeowners more responsible for their pets.

The greedy

What is the matter with the people who can’t understand that the majority of unemployed would gladly work. There’s no work out there. Our greedy have sent all the well-paying jobs offshore to sweat shops and then they open our borders to take whatever jobs that are left. Please take pity on the people who are hurting, not from lack of ambition, but from the lack of jobs to fill. Many of these people have families and have lost everything, even the roof over their heads.

Language skills

In order to vote, one must be a United States citizen. In order to become a citizen, one must “read, write and speak English. Your English language skills will be tested during the citizenship interview and test.” Therefore, why is voting information printed in any language other than English?

Blame Republicans!

In response to “Holding back jobs.” Once again, the right wing kind of makes things up. The only jobs bill passed by the Republicans in the last 10 years was the American Job Creation Act which was passed in the Bush administration. It didn’t create a single job, but it did allow all companies to repatriate tens of billions of dollars back to the U.S. from offshore with the wonderful tax rate of 5 percent. Once again, the middle class gets dumped on. The Senate hasn’t passed anything because of Republican filibusters, not because of Harry Reid. The Republicans like to blame Democrats, but it all comes back to the Republicans

Nasty people

TOTC is so biased. They print so many negative things especially about the president. Everything is negative. There can’t be that many people in this area that read your newspaper that could hate people so much. Aren’t there any nice people that read your newspaper that call in? Or if they do you simply don’t print it. There can’t be that many nasty people in this area.
