‘Elvis’ revived

I attended the “Elvis Show” at the Ramada Inn in Waukegan the other night. I went to be entertained, not to be bored. In this case, Elvis should have remained dead. David Kirby looks as much like Elvis as I do. The voice was passable, but his “Elvis moves” were stiff, badly executed, and far and few between. He did interact with the audience, but failed miserably to recapture the need that Elvis had to be on stage for more than just money. His backup singer had a lot to carry, but did very well. When you heard her, she had a beautiful voice. The two opening acts were passable. Roni Niles has a powerful voice, but would have been better with a band and some backup singers. I am not a Frank Sinatra fan, so I don’t know how good he was.

Middle class extinction

The middle class is nearly extinct, and will become so within the next five years. Either those jobs have gone off shore never to return, or the majority of today’s job seekers do not have the qualifications to be extended a job offer. Your politicians won’t admit to this because they’ve never had to meet a payroll. Businessmen will not admit to this because of the effect it will have on local and national economies. The majority of remaining Americans live in a fantasy land. If you want a peek into the future, look at Greece and the remainder of Europe. The same situation will land on the shores of the United States within 24 months and we have no one to blame but ourselves.

No charge

Every time an insurance company is required to provide something at no charge to the patient, they raise their premiums to cover the cost of the free care. Every premium paying customer pays a portion of the free care. There is no free care or free lunch.

The CCC

Did anyone serve in the Civilian Conservation Corps? What was the program? Enlighten us.

Cheap trends

Hate to burst the bubble of the TOTC person who thinks the U.S. was founded on “God, guts and guns.” In reality, it was cheap land, cheap labor and cheap energy. Thanks to our elected officials, we now have cheap land (foreclosures and short sales), cheap labor (moving manufacturing out of the U.S. and right-to-work states) but high energy costs (gasoline creeping up to $4 a gallon). Time to elect people who will reverse these trends because both parties the past four years have done little to help the American people.

Biblical teachings

I don’t recall any parts in the Bible where Jesus was talking about birth control, but then again he never mentioned homosexuality either.

Sure, comrade

About “Commander in Chief” in TOTC. The man in Washington is not the Commander in Chief. He is the Commissar in Chief. Let us remember the only place that he should be saluted is in Moscow.

Bus logic

According to the powers that be, using a hand-held cellphone while driving causes accidents because it distracts your driving. I see that a lady bus driver ran into a Veolia garbage truck the other day in Zion and said that the kids were distracting her. I guess with her logic, we should not be picking up kids with school buses anymore.

Pit bull attack

Regarding the pit bull that attacked the dog in its own yard. Waukegan should have stricter rules and laws regarding stray and loose dogs. They should euthanize any dog that attacks another dog in its own yard. That dog attacked Cindy for no reason. It should be destroyed before it attacks another innocent dog. Also, the owner of that pit bull should spend some time in jail and be fined for that.

Forced solution

The insurance companies are being forced by President Obama to cover free of charge abortion medication. If the Catholic Church buys that insurance then logic would dictate that the Catholic Church is providing for abortions. President Obama’s solution isn’t going to fly and isn’t going to work.

Saddled with debt

Many ask why President Obama wants America to lose thousands of jobs and to raise gas prices by disapproving the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. The answer is quite simple. Obama is getting something really big in return from someone or from some organization or he is intent in bankrupting America or both. His only expertise is at overspending and in wasting billions that he was able to raise the national debt to more than $15 trillion after being in office only for less than three years! Now, he wants another trillion or so dollars to spend and to waste. He does not care that the future generations will be saddled by the tremendous debt he has accumulated.
