Police: Gun-wielding man fatally shot by officer at hotel

Police fatally shot a man allegedly wielding a gun Wednesday night in a hotel in Waukegan, officials said.

Police were called around 8:30 p.m. to the Holiday Inn Express in the 600 block of Lakehurst Road after receiving reports of a man with a gun, according to the Waukegan Police Department.

When police arrived, the man pulled out the handgun and an officer fired one shot at the man, wounding him, police said. He later died from his injuries.

No officers were injured in the incident and the Lake County Major Crime Task Force is investigating.
