WAUKEGAN — Nearly $5,000 in cash, a gun, heroin and marijuana were seized after Waukegan police served a search warrant at a home Thursday.

Waukegan police said Friday they arrested Burkett Davidson, 40, at 909 Commonwealth Ave., and charged him with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, police said.

They found 1.8 grams of heroin, 9.3 grams of marijuana and a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun. There was also $4,700 in cash in the home.

“Although we continue to have success in executing search warrants and arresting drug dealers, I look forward to the day when drug dealers and users get the message that we want them out of our neighborhoods,” said Police Chief Dan Greathouse.

He encouraged residents to contact police if they suspect there is a drug house in their neighborhood.
