LAKE ZURICH — A driver who was having a medical emergency in downtown Lake Zurich on Thursday died later at a hospital.
Marie Jasinski, 55, of 8 Lakeview Place, Lake Zurich, was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Lake Barrington, and then transferred to Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village, where she died at 6:59 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
Lake Zurich Police Cmdr. David Bradstreet said Police Chief Patrick Finlon was on his way to a meeting and witnessed the woman’s car in Celebration Park spinning its tires at Main Street and North Old Rand Road. Then she idled across Main Street at about 5 mph and struck a building without causing any damage.
She was conscious and breathing, but not responding to emergency personnel. She was then taken by ambulance to the hospital.
Police said Marie Jasinski, of 8 Lakeview Place in Lake Zurich, suffered a “medical event” while driving, and her vehicle ultimately came to rest after rolling into the building.
Finlon said it’s unknown what type of medical event Jasinski suffered.
