Liar arrested on outstanding warrant

LIBERTYVILLE: A Mundelein man who lied to Libertyville police about his identity was taken into custody when he returned to claim his car. Police found he had been deported for a sex offense and was wanted on a warrant.
Esteban Macias, 33, of 600 McKinley Ave., Mundelein, was stopped by police Oct. 13 for improper lane use and driving on a revoked license, but police eventually learned he was using an alias and had been deported for being a sex offender in the past.
Macias was charged with failing to register as a sex offender, failure to register vehicle as driven by a sex offender, driving while license revoked, using a fictitious name to register the vehicle and improper lane usage.
He has been placed on a deportation hold by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
