LIBERTYVILLE — A 47-year-old unincorporated Libertyville Township man was killed on the Metra Milwaukee North Line railroad tracks just east of Milwaukee Avenue on Halloween night.

Michael Kenny of the 30000 block of East End was found on the tracks just before 10 p.m. and was pronounced dead on the scene. The man was on the tracks east of the train station behind the neighborhood in the 200 block of Newberry Avenue.

Metra Police are still investigating the death, but it may be a suicide. The Lake County Coroner’s Office released the man’s name Thursday after notifying family.

He was struck by an outbound train around 9:44 p.m. and the train engineer reported it to police. Libertyville police and fire assisted in the call, but it was turned over to Metra Police because it was on railroad property.
