Grayslake

Donations: The Lake County Farm Bureau is conducting a Toys For Tots and Winter Coat Drive through Dec. 10. Individuals can drop off new unwrapped children’s toys and new or slightly used coats Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Farm Bureau office, 70 Route 45. Those wishing to make a monetary donation can make checks payable to Toys For Tots and drop them off at the Farm Bureau as well. Highwood

Service: St. James School invites active and retired members of the military to join the school community for a special prayer service honoring our nation’s veterans and current members of the military Nov. 9 at 8:30 a.m. at at 140 North Ave., for the annual prayer service. Military families are encouraged to come in uniform. Children are allowed to wear their parent’s hat for the day in recognition of their personal sacrifices as children of a military parent. Commanding Officer Navy Recruiting District of Chicago and St. James parent, Lee Donaldson, will be the guest speaker. Local Highwood and Highland Park VFW veterans will present colors. Lake County

Shots for food: On Nov. 10-11, all three of Advocate Condell’s Immediate Care Centers will offer a free flu shot for every person 18 years and older who brings a non-perishable food item. Food items will be donated to local food pantries before Thanksgiving. Shots will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Vernon Hills Immediate Care Center, 6 Phillips Road; from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Round Lake Beach Immediate Care Center, 2 E. Rollins Road; and from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Gurnee Immediate Care Center, 1445 Hunt Club Road. Shots available while supplies last. For more information, call (847) 990-5275.

Registration: Open registration is under way for late fall programs at Lake County Family YMCA branches in Vernon Hills and Waukegan. Sign up for such activities as swimming and fitness that encourage the four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at Central Lake YMCA, 700 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills, and Northern Lake YMCA, 2000 Western Ave., Waukegan. The Fall II program session begins Nov. 12. Be sure to sign up by Nov. 11 to avoid higher fees for some classes. Sign up now and pay no joiner’s fee.
