Talk of the County

Waukegan had a wonderful parade Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. However, the speakers should not refer to the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center as the VA hospital. Since it is so long, they should call it the Federal Health Care Center.
Republicans, what are you complaining about? Obama is nothing more than a paper lion who likes to hear himself roar. Bernanke is pumping money out to prop up the stock market so they take profits now and leave the little guy holding the bag. Obama never created a comprehensive mortgage adjustment program, so now venture capitalists are picking up homes by the thousands for pennies on the dollar. Obama’s doing all the dirty work for you, so sit back and relax with your martini.
The story involving Ron Mulholland has gone from bad to worse. Having read in the Nov. 14 News-Sun that the “elk” were actually red deer indicates he doesn’t really know what he is targeting. And to think that the two animals were hand fed and part of a domesticated herd. Take away this hunter’s weapons and fine him big time.
Out of hand
In the paper on Nov. 13, the Forest Preserve is spending $10 million to buy empty land. A week before, we needed a new fire department. The factories are moving to Wisconsin. This county has the highest tax base in the state. It is ridiculous and getting completely out of hand. We do need another election to get rid of these people that absolutely do not know how to spend our money.
Sounds like ...
The more I read TOTC, I believe that most of the comments are made by the same person. All of the comments sound the same.
If Obama won because of Hurricane Sandy, and Sandy was an act of God, then God must want Obama to be our president.
Are you stale, pale and male? Then you qualify to be a Republican.
In 2004, George W. Bush clearly won a mandate with 50.73 percent of the popular vote and 286 electoral votes. In 2012, Barack Obama clearly did not win a mandate with 51 percent of the popular vote and 332 electoral votes. This makes perfect sense in the right-wing world!
President Obama has won the election, deservedly so, because he received the majority of votes. What I’m concerned about is that President Obama now thinks he has carte blanche to do what he wants claiming that he has the will of the people and that the people have spoken. If I remember correctly, at least 47 percent of the American people voted for Mitt Romney with an additional 1 percent against both of them. There was 48 percent of the American people that didn’t vote for President Obama.
Close to home
In regard to the freeloaders who elected President Obama. Those freeloaders are your cousins, your aunts, your sisters-in-law, your brothers-in-law and your neighbors next door.
About the “Voices” question the other day in The News-Sun. You should have asked if any of these people want to retire in Illinois. With what’s in store with the Democrats in control in this state, it’s time to get out now!
Black and blue
Regarding the article in TOTC, “Reds and blues.” This person states that the election is over and it’s not about red and blue anymore. We’re purple, so forget about not getting along. We’re purple? No, we’re on way to black and blue right now. That’s what this country is going to be with four more years with Obama.
Moment of silence
“Our view” on Nov. 10 pointed out that there’s an American tradition to observe a minute of silence at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 in remembrance and saying thank you on Veterans Day. It would be nice if The News-Sun reminded us several days ahead that, if we’re not at a veterans parade or ceremony, we could all come out to the street or front porch for a minute of silence or prayer.
In the dark
I guess all you Lake County Republicans got what you deserve, Obama for another four years. You were all listening to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly, who are going to lead you right back into the dark. If you don’t get with the program, you’re going to be left behind, and that’s what you deserve.
The timeline on the Benghazi terrorist attack was released Nov. 9. Obama had a meeting 78 minutes after the attack started. One of his drones was even broadcasting back the attack that was going on. There was a CIA base near the consulate. The terrorists had mortars and were attacking the consulate. He knew from the beginning this wasn’t protesters letting off steam, but a highly organized terrorist attack on the consulate and he did nothing. It’s time for him to resign.
The earth moves
They didn’t know why two homes completely exploded in Indianapolis and a dozen more were damaged? It was like a fire bomb. There was a four-plus earthquake between Indianapolis and St. Louis on Nov. 11 and it was felt through half of this country. It caused gas leaks, it’s that simple. I felt it and my service dog reacted to it, also. We’ve got to be have honest about what’s happening in our country with these earthquakes. The earth is moving and people have to be prepared and warned. We need honesty because people don’t believe it.
I wouldn’t care if Petraeus had a love child with Pelosi. He should have stuck around, testified before the Congress and said exactly what happened at the Benghazi consulate. Real men and leaders stick up to their mistakes and openly admit it. That goes for Obama, too. I’m still waiting for that transparency that he promised. It still hasn’t occurred in four years.
