Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies successfully ended two barricade situations Friday, one in Ingleside and another in Lake Villa.
In the Ingleside incident, a 35-year-old man barricaded himself in a home with a gun in the 26000 block of Squaw Road. Sheriff’s deputies were called around 1:30 p.m. regarding a domestic disturbance.
Deputies set up a perimeter and nearby schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution. About two hours later, the man was taken into custody without incident. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case for charges.
In the Lake Villa incident, deputies were called around 11:24 a.m. for a suicidal subject who had just left a home near Olive Martin School. The school was placed on lockdown and a deputy stationed there just in case.
At one point, AIR-ONE Emergency Response Coalition was requested to use its helicopter to assist in locating the subject, but he exited woods near Grand Avenue and Fairfield Road around 12:30 p.m. He did not have a gun and was cooperative. He was transported to Vista Medical Center East, Waukegan, for evaluation.
