The Lake County Sheriff’s Office saturated a Spring Grove neighborhood and surrounding areas last week after a 12-year-old boy reported that a man tried to get him to get into his van.
The incident happened last week in an unincorporated Spring Grove subdivision near North Forest and West Greenwood avenues.
The young man told police that a black van pulled up alongside him after he got off the school bus. He knew it was a man because of his voice. He was wearing a full-face ski mask. The van was black with rear windows.
The man asked for directions to Grass Lake Road, and then he asked the youth if he wanted to go for a ride. The boy declined. The man drove away toward Grass Lake Road.
Saturation patrols were ordered for over three days but police were not able to find the suspect vehicle.
