INGLESIDE — Two youths, one of whom had been seen inside an Ingleside home allegedly stealing items, drew the attention of homeowners three weeks later by running through back yards and climbing fences.
On Nov. 8, Erick Garcia, 19, of the 35000 block of Hunt Avenue, Ingleside, was seen inside a residence in the 36000 block of Helendale Avenue by the home-owner, but he escaped.
Then on Monday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received multiple calls from residents about two suspects running through rear yards and climbing fences in the area of the Long Lake Metra station. Deputies were checking the area when Garcia and the juvenile came out of nearby woods.
Garcia was found to be in possession of alcohol and was taken into custody. Deputies also located jewelry in Garcia’s possession. Both Garcia and the juvenile said they took the jewelry from homes in the area. They showed detectives what homes they had burglarized.
Jewelry, electronics, shoes and cash were stolen from the homes. The burglaries occurred on the 36000 block of Helendale Avenue, 25000 block of Long Beach Avenue, 35000 block of Watson Avenue and 35000 block of Wilson Avenue, all in Ingleside.
Garcia was charged with four counts of residential burglary and his bond was set at $25,000 and he was released from custody. The juvenile was transported to Depke Juvenile Justice Center in Vernon Hills.
