Six deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office handed out 52 citations Dec. 6 along Route 41 in Newport and Warren townships, along with Route 12 in Fox Lake during an aggressive traffic enforcement operation, authorities said Monday.
Citations included four driving while license suspended, four no valid driver’s license, unlawful possession of cannabis and two arrests for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
The deputies hit Route 41 from 3 to 6 p.m. and then from 7 to 10:30 p.m.
They focused on Route 12 from 7 to 10:30 p.m.
“These efforts are periodically necessary to ensure long-term safety of our roadways,” said Sheriff Mark Curran.
