WAUKEGAN — A traffic stop by the Neighborhood Policing Unit of the Waukegan Police Department turned up a loaded .380-caliber handgun.
Police made the traffic stop Monday on a vehicle being driven by Cecil Davis, 19, of the 700 block of Grand Avenue, Waukegan. After the stop, police found his license was suspended.
A search of the vehicle turned up the weapon, police said Thursday. Davis made a statement saying he was in possession of the gun. He was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was taken to court and his bond was set at $50,000.
“I am always happy when we take another gun off of the street and out of the hands of criminals,” said Police Chief Daniel Greathouse.
