LAKE FOREST — A homeless man who took shelter in Lake Forest Country Day School has a Jan. 4 date in Lake County Circuit Court.
Maxwell Johnson, 33, of Chicago was charged with criminal trespass to property and disorderly conduct for entering the school where he was found at approximately 6 a.m. on Dec. 14 by a teacher.
Johnson told police he “walked around the school and pulled on doors until he found one that wasn’t secure,” a Lake Forest Police Department spokesman said.
Johnson was found sleeping outside a classroom by a teacher who arrived early at the school, which is located at 145 S. Green Bay Road.
“She saw him, locked herself in her classroom and called us,” the spokesman said. “We responded and got him out.”
According to the police report, Johnson said he was homeless and entered the school only to sleep. No evidence of stolen or damaged property was uncovered.
Johnson was released on $1,500 bond.
