LIBERTYVILLE — A Chicago woman was arrested Tuesday and charged with prostitution after she allegedly offered undercover police officers sex acts for money.
Hong Yang, 41, was arrested following a monthlong joint investigation between the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Libertyville Police Department.
Authorities said Wednesday the investigation began after police received an anonymous tip that the Dragon Spa, 402 Peterson Road, on Libertyville’s far north side, was offering sex acts for money.
Three detectives received hourlong massages. On Tuesday, around 1 p.m., Yang allegedly offered to massage one of the detective’s genital area for an additional fee. With the assistance of Libertyville Police Department, the undercover sheriff’s deputy arrested Yang for prostitution.
Yang’s jail bond was set at $1,000 and she was released from custody after posting 10 percent of the required bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 23.
An employee answered the phone at Dragon Spa on Wednesday morning, but a manager was not immediately available for comment.
“If something like that is going on, we obviously don’t want the business in town,” said Libertyville Mayor Terry Weppler, adding he would confer with Police Chief Clint Herdegen and Director of Community Development John Spoden to see what, if any, legal measures could be taken.
