Link gets post: State Sen. Terry Link, D-Waukegan, has been named an assistant majority leader by Senate President John Cullerton, D-Chicago. Link was sworn into his six term in office last week. He was first elected to the state Senate in 1996. Preriously, Link served as majority caucus whip and was the chairman of the Senate Gaming Committee. He also served as the vice chairman of the Senate Financial Institutions and Local Government committees, as well as serving as a member of the State Government and Veterans Affairs Committee.

Forest board: Women make up the majority of committee chairs of the Lake County Forest Preserve District Board, with the naming of committee appointments by President Ann Maine of Lincolnshire. Commissioner Pat Carey of Grayslake was appointed chair of the Finance and Administrative Committee; Carol Calabresa of Libertyville named chair of the Land Preservation and Acquisition Committee; Bonnie Thomson Carter of Ingleside, chair of the Planning and Restoration Committee; Craig Taylor of Lake Zurich, chair of the Education, Cultural Resources and Public Affairs Committee; Linda Pedersen of Antioch, vice president of the board, chair of the Rules Committee and the Ethics Committee; Audrey Nixon of North Chicago, chair of the Diversity and Cultural Awareness Committee; Maine will chair the te Legislative Committee. All will serve two-year terms that end in December 2014.

Coffee shop stop: State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Round Lake Beach, will meet with 62nd House District constituents during a visit to Something’s Brewing in Grayslake on Jan. 22 from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
