Talk of the County

Genesis of the debate
I’m responding to the “Gay marriage” in TOTC. If God loved homosexuals, why did he destroy Sodom and Gomorrah? You can read this in Genesis. If we continue to destroy God’s laws, then we should remove “In God we trust” as this country’s motto.
Doesn’t pass the spell test
Who does Daniel Baker think he is kidding? He’s going to run fast-food joints when he gets “equitted”? He better learn how to spell first.
It’s a woman’s world
I was so angry at your newspaper Jan. 10 when I saw your cartoon regarding the violence against the “Women Act” and the House Republicans. I’m tired of the Republican Party being slammed as anti-women. There are many bright and intelligent Republican women in office such as Nikki Haley, Susana Martinez, the new senator from the Dakotas, and many of our own here in Lake County. This is one Republican woman who will be canceling her subscription if you keep running cartoons like that.
Call to arms
Why do you have to give up your guns because others commit crimes with theirs? If making guns illegal gets them off the streets, then we should make heroin and meth illegal, too.
Failing the DNA test
The News-Sun failed to make the distinction between what DNA can show and cannot show. It cannot show that someone didn’t kill someone. It would be nice if you got your facts right. The failure to have someone on your staff that understands the complexities of DNA is a great disservice to the community at large.
Dealing with loss
My heart goes out to the friends, family and former and fellow officers of Sgt. Peter Michaels of the Waukegan Police Department. This is the third suicide the Waukegan Police Department and community has suffered in two years. What is the current administration doing to help these officers deal with this loss? Is it mandatory for all officers to take counseling or seek help for this issue? What is the administration doing to prevent suicides of officers? There is obviously a need that is not being met and something needs to change. How many officers do we have to lose before something happens?
