NORTH CHICAGO — The Lake County Coroner’s Office is awaiting toxicology screenings to determine the death of a woman who collapsed at a party over the weekend.
The 48-year-old woman was at a party Saturday night in the 1200 block of Jackson Street in North Chicago. Shortly after midnight, the woman collapsed for unknown reasons and died. Her autopsy Monday did not find a conclusive cause of death. There was some signs of disease in her arteries, but not enough to cause her death, said Coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd. Many people of that age will show some signs of artery disease.
Blood toxicology will be done to determine if alcohol or some other drug may have caused her death. Those tests can take a couple of weeks, Rudd said. Her name will not be released until the blood toxicology test results come back, according to officials.
Next of kin were notified of her death.
