Antioch Township
Speed limits: The Lake County Board passed an ordinance Jan. 15 to establish a 35 mph speed zone where there is currently a 45 mph zone on Edwards Road in Antioch and Newport townships. Speed studies have been completed and the request was made by Dan Dziekan, Newport Township road commissioner, and Mark Ring, Antioch Township road commissioner.
Buffalo Grove
Open house: The public is invited to meet the village’s newly hired deputy village manager, Jennifer Maltas, at an open house Jan. 21 from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 50 Raupp Blvd. prior to the 7:30 p.m. Village Board meeting. Open house: Lake County Public Works has scheduled a public information open house meeting on the drinking water supply for the Grandwood Park water system Jan. 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Grandwood Park District Community Center, 36630 N. Hutchins Road. The water system includes the following subdivisions: Brookside, Bridlewood, Grandwood Park, Deerpath, Mill Creek Crossing, Shires of Cambridge, Cedar Ridge, Hutchins Woods and Stratton Oaks. Residents will learn more about the current drinking water supply system and the county’s efforts to secure a permanent, long-term solution to the community’s drinking water needs. Lake County Public Works staff and groundwater specialists will be available at a series of stations to provide information and answer questions. Waukegan
Rally: There will be a Get Out The Vote Rally on Jan. 19 from 3 to 5 p m. at Jesters, 1500 N. Lewis Ave. This is an opportunity for anyone over the age of 18 to register. Fund-raiser: Tickets are still available for the Waukegan High School JROTC Drill Team annual spaghetti and taco dinner Jan. 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at WHS Brookside Campus, 2325 Brookside Ave. Tickets are $8 or $28 for a family of four. The event will feature two performances by the Bulldog Drill Team at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. This year’s event will also feature a live DJ and a raffle for a new television. Additionally, those who cannot attend the event can have food delivered between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Proceeds from this year’s dinner will assist members of the drill team as they travel and compete in the National High School Drill Team Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla., this May. Mundelein
Award: Mundelein Park & Recreation District was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (www.gfoa.org). This achievement recognizes government organizations for its comprehensive annual financial report and is the highest form of recognition in the form of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
