The DUI trial of Mark Ditka, son of former Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka, has been set over to Jan. 30.
Mark Ditka, 50, of Deerfield, faced a bench trial Tuesday on charges of aggravated DUI and possession of a controlled substance, but his attorney, Robert Ritacca, asked Lake County Circuit Court Judge Mark Levitt for a continuance. Levitt granted the continuance until Jan. 30.
Mark Ditka was stopped Oct. 7 for illegal lane use on Waukegan Road near Central Avenue in Deerfield, police said, and was arrested after a field sobriety test. Police said they found a bottle of the prescription drug hydrocodone when they searched his car.
He remains free from custody.
