Round Lake Beach man held on drug-induced death

LIBERTYVILLE — A Round Lake Beach man has been charged in what authorities say is a drug-induced homicide.
Libertyville Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of an unresponsive male in a home on North Third Street at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday and found Timothy McCann, 20. Emergency lifesaving procedures were performed and McCann was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Officers at the scene determined that heroin use was involved and started an investigation with the aid of the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group.
Byron J. Sullivan, 21, was identified as the alleged supplier of the drug and was arrested at 4 a.m., Friday in his home at 1117 N. East End Ave., Round Lake Beach.
Sullivan faces charges of drug-induced homicide, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
He was placed in custody on a $1 million cash bond and is due in court at 9 a.m. Feb. 5.
An autopsy was performed Friday on McCann. Results have not been released pending toxicology reports which can take several weeks to process.
According to McCann’s Facebook profile, he was a 2010 graduate of Libertyville High School.
Sullivan is friends with McCann on Facebook and is also listed as a 2010 graduate of Libetyville High. According to his profile, he is also enrolled at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, currently lives there and was due to graduate in 2014.
