This weekend, you can enjoy eating some pancakes and then helping the Grayslake Fire Department win its blood donor challenge with other fire departments.

On Saturday, Feb. 9, the Fire Department will be participating in the Life Source Blood Center Firefighter Blood Donor Challenge where participating departments will compete against each other in an attempt to draw the greatest number of units of blood.

Life Source personnel will be at Grayslake Fire Station No. 1, 160 Hawley St., Grayslake, on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m..

The blood drive will take place in conjunction with the Grayslake Youth Baseball annual pancake breakfast.

If you want to give blood, you are urged to eat well and hydrate before you donate. A picture ID will be required.

While walk-ins are welcome, donors are encouraged to make an appointment by calling Ingrid Skidmore at (847) 223-8960.
