Updated: April 9, 2013 2:22AM

LAKE VILLA — A Lake Villa gas station sold a winning Powerball ticket for the Wednesday night drawing, meaning someone in the area is going to be $1 million richer.

The winner, who has yet to come forward, purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket at Lake Villa Citgo, 400 E. Grand Ave., matched the first five numbers — 05-27-36-38–41–(12) — in the Wednesday drawing.

The Lake Villa ticket was one of five $1 million winning tickets, with others sold in Arizona, Connecticut, Kentucky and New York, according to Powerball officials.

One Rhode Island ticket won $2 million, while a ticket for the $208 million jackpot was purchased in Virginia.

The Lake Villa ticket was also the 20th $1 million Powerball winner in Illinois since last February.

The Lake Villa Citgo will receive a $10,000 bonus, 1 percent of the jackpot amount, for selling a winning ticket.

Estimated jackpot for this Saturday’s Powerball drawing is $40 million.
