Lake County sheriff’s Citizen Academy starts March 7

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office will begin its next Citizen Police Academy course March 7.
Participants will have the opportunity to see first-hand how the sheriff’s office operates.
It is a 10-week course with classes running approximately three hours each Thursday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. Graduation is May 23.
Instruction is provided by sworn deputies and civilians in their field of expertise and is designed to provide a hands-on experience.
Training will take place at the various Sheriff’s Office facilities throughout the county, including the Lake County Courthouse and Lake County Jail located in Waukegan, as well as the Highway Patrol Division located in Libertyville.
The academy is free to Lake County residents. You must be 21 years of age or older, be of good moral character and have no felony convictions.
Applications are available at the Lake County Sheriff’s Administration Office, 25 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan, or on the Sheriff’s Office Web site, www.lakecountyil.gov/sheriff.
Interested residents must have their application in by Feb. 15.
