A Wadsworth woman was indicted by a Lake County grand jury Wednesday on aggravated identity theft and financial exploitation of the elderly charges.
Melissa Reilly, 57, is accused of taking advantage of a 93-year-old man by using his credit cards and getting him to give her $30,000 from a certificate of deposit, authorities said.
An investigation found Reilly had befriended the elderly man at church about three years ago. She is accused of convincing him to give her $30,000 cash from his CD and then allegedly used eight of the man’s credit cards to purchase gas, a refrigerator, washer and dryer, a TV and a home theater system, authorities said.
Officials said Reilly paid off his credit cards using his checking account.
Reilly is due for arraignment Feb. 27. She was released from custody Jan. 31 after posting 10 percent of her $150,000 bond, according to jail records.
