Joel Wittkamp funeral set for Saturday

ANTIOCH — Funeral services for the teen driver of a fatal crash will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, hours after the funeral of his passenger.
The funeral for Joel Wittkamp, 16, of Antioch, will be held at 3 p.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church 1501 Deep Lake Road, Antioch. Funeral services for his passenger, Ashley Seay, 17, of Lindenhurst are set for 11 a.m. Saturday.
Both teens died in the crash of Wittkamp’s Chevrolet Trailblazer Monday night when the SUV went off Wilmot Road and crashed into a tree.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the accident.
A junior at Antioch High School, Wittkamp was an all-around athlete, playing football, basketball, tennis, wrestling and baseball. He volunteered at PADS in Lindenhurst and was a part-time employee at Pier West in Twin Lakes, Wis.
Survivors include his parents, William and Sarah Wittkamp Jr. of Antioch and Amber Mahoney of Twin Lakes; two siblings, Alyssa and Jace; grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
