Waukegan

Meeting: Seniors and people who care about their welfare and funding for programs are invited to attend a Town Hall meeting with state Sen. Terry Link, D-Wakegan, and state Rep. Rita Mayfield, D-Waukegan, April 3 at 1 p.m. at Park Place Senior Center, 414 S. Lewis Ave. Details, (847) 244-9242.

Candidate forum: The League of Women Voters of Lake County and the Waukegan chapter of the National Association of University Women will co-host a special forum and “meet and greet” with candidates for the Community Unit School District 60 Board of Education at April 3 at 7 p.m. at Miguel Juarez Middle School, 201 N. Butrick, Waukegan. Parents and community members of District 0 will have the opportunity to meet candidates and ask them questions about education in Waukegan prior to the April 9 election. Representatives from the League of Women Voters and the AAUW will moderate the forum, and read questions to each candidate. Anyone wishing to ask a question can do submit questions to moderators on the night of the forum. Five seats on the seven-member Board of Education are up for election. Four of the five seats are four-year terms expiring in April 2017. A fifth seat is a two-year term expiring in April 2015. Candidates for the four-year term in the order they will appear on the ballot are: June M. Maguire, Anita Hanna, Victoria Torres, Troy A. Cooper, Domingo “Sonny” Garza and Michael Rodriguez. Tommy Rhyan is the lone candidate for the two-year term.

Lake Villa

Flushing: The Village of Lake Villa will be flushing fire hydrants April 7 through May 3 during the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Residents may experience rusty water and/or lower water pressure during these times.
